π π See how to do it step by step
This document explains how to configure alerts in Pulsar, assign them to machines and users, define their conditions, manage recipients, and review the notifications generated by these alerts.
Step 1: Access the Alerts Section
As a Pulsar Admin, go to the Settings menu and navigate to the Alerts section.
In this section, you can create as many alerts as needed and configure how they will be assigned to users.
Step 2: Create a New Alert
To create a new alert, click the button.
Step 3: Complete the Fields
Name:
Assign a descriptive name to easily identify the alert.
Assign Recipients and Machines:
Select the users who should receive the alert. Then, choose the machines where the alert will apply or be triggered.
Select Metrics and Conditions:
Choose the metrics the alert will be based on (e.g., downtime duration / total maintenance time).
Configure the Condition:
Example: You can set the alert to trigger only when downtime exceeds 120 minutes.
Optionally, you can refine the condition β for instance, trigger the alert only when downtime exceeds 120 minutes and is classified under quality.
The alert will be sent to the selected machines and users.
Step 4: Review and Manage Alerts
Once created, the alert will appear in the alerts list. In this list, you can view:
- Alert name
- Associated metric
- Configured conditions
- Assigned users and machines
By clicking the three-dot menu on each alert, you can edit or delete it.
You can also use the search bar to quickly find a specific alert.
Step 5: View and Edit Alert Recipients
In the Recipients section, you can view all active Pulsar users, including:
- Assigned alerts
- Configured language
- Working hours (if applicable)
- Notification channels (push notifications, SMS, WhatsApp, or email)
To edit this information, click Edit in the Action column.
On the edit screen, you can:
- Add or update email address
- Add or update phone number
- Assign or modify alerts
- Set day/time restrictions for receiving notifications
Step 6: Create Recipients Without System Access
In addition to active users, you can create recipients who do not have direct access to Pulsar (no username or password) but can still receive alerts or reports.
These recipients are configured with the same basic information (contact details, notification channels, schedule restrictions, etc.), but they exist only within the Alerts section and cannot access the main platform.
Viewing Alerts from the Alerts Module
When an alert is triggered, it can be accessed from two places:
Alerts Button
Here you can review the latest alerts from today, yesterday, or this week.
Notifications Section
In this section, you can view:
- Number of alerts received
- Status of each alert (Critical, Warning, or Resolved)
You can filter alerts by machine, user, or read/acknowledgment status.
From here, you can also access the alert configuration if adjustments are needed.
Clicking on a specific alert will display detailed information about the event that triggered it (machine, metric, condition, status, etc.).
If you select Go to Real-Time, the system will take you directly to the real-time view of the related machine and situation.
This serves as a shortcut to quickly understand what is happening when an alert is triggered.
